This 1936 Arthur Rothstein photograph shows a parked car in the foreground of an intersection in Amarillo, Texas (popultion 51,686 in the 1940 Census) with a woman, wearing a dress and holding her hat on her head, running through a dust storm. Located in the Texas panhandle, Amarillo was near the most severely impacted region of the Dust Bowl.
