  • This is a collection of papers and photographs related to the Leonard E. Stanley family of Corning, Iowa, with the primary focus of the papers being Leonard E. Stanley (b.1853-d.1932), his son Howard (b.1899-d.1968), and his daughter Carrie (b.1886-d.1962). It includes legislative correspondence, documents, ephemera, and publications related to Leonard's service as a Republican state representative, 1917-1919; World War I correspondence of son Howard while assigned to the Coast Artillery Corps at Fort MacArthur in California, 1918; and a file of biographical materials related to daughter Carrie who was a professor of English at the State University of Iowa from 1920 to 1954.
