Contents include treaties and land records, correspondence between local authorities and the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs (1826-1837), files on Sac and Fox history indexed both by subject and chronology, biographical files on prominent tribal leaders in the territory and state of Iowa, information on native cultural traditions, and a reference file of articles from the Annals of Iowa of relevance to Native American history. Some materials of special note in this collection are a "true copy" of the 1830 treaty of peace and friendship between the confederated tribes of the Meskwaki, Sioux, Winnebago and Menominee, and assented to by the Omaha, Ioway, Otoe, and MIssouri tribes; an original memorandum on Indian depredations (1865); an original minute book of the Tama County Executive Committee of the Indian Rights Association (1895-1899); and constitutions and by-laws of the Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa, and the Sac and Fox PowWow Association (1937).
