    Brought to Iowa from the Netherlands in 1870 by Gerrit Jacob and Fennijte Van Wijk. They settled south of Pella and farmed.

    Pella Chronicle article of April 4, 1935, references the Bible in the possession of Gerrit Jacob Van Wyk whose father brought the Bible from the Netherlands. Gerrit was able to read the Bible. The list of names in the Bible are his children. Gerrit farmed near Prairie City, Otley, and Eddyville.
