Biographical/Historical note:
  • Donald P. Kohns of Cherokee, Iowa was a 2nd Lieutenant with Company A of the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Division of the U.S. Army. He received his officer's training at Fort Benning, Georgia, and embarked for Korea in February 1956. While overseas his unit's assignments included defense of a diesel oil pipeline running from Inchon, South Korea to the 38th Parallel, and patrol duty along the Demilitarized Zone. He returned to the United States in June, 1957.
